Review Film Wim Wenders
On 18 November 2009 at the Bentara Budaya Jakarta played 2 pieces of the film by director Wim Wenders one from Germany. Screenings of the film is a continuation of the screening of films by Wim Wenders others from 16 to 18 November 2009. The film played on November 18, among others, Buena Vista Social Club and The Million Dollar Hotel. Buena Vista Social film is a documentary about Cuban musicians and singers generation 1930-1950's. Telling adventure Ry Cooder, the guitarist who fills the music for the film by Wim Wenders, entitled Paris, Texas. Ry Cooder tried to reunite the legendary music group from Cuba were to make their album. In Wim Wenders film introduces each personnel in the group and they tell the story of their lives in Cuba and about the beginning of their musical careers. Among these musicians have already aged 90 years. Wim Wenders shows and broadcast their songs in live concerts and now they live recording. Some scenes are a small part of their concert in Amsterdam and the Carnegie's Hall of New York. At 105 minutes duration movie was Wim Wenders shows how kehiduan them in Cuba a socialist state more than the Humanist. Not shown in a scene where each personnel tell about their lives directly in front of the camera, but the art form of slow movement of the camera on the way when they go on tour. What is interesting is Wim Wenders makes all the scenes out of a real life dimension, for example when 2 people that group members were walking past the shops and saw a small statue of world-renowned figures. Tells the story of FBI detective named Skinner who was assigned to investigate a very complex case. The case involves the guests who have a different character in a hotel in urban areas among them is the alleged suspect in the murder of a child mysteriously media billionaire named Izzy. Skinner also began by asking each of the guests are. In the investigation that he met the young man to behave like an idiot named Tom Tom. This figure like a woman named El .... in the story there is also a character who becomes a prostitute who claim as his fiancee Izzy, besides that there character infatuated with John Lhennon (one of the personnel of The Beatless) and claimed the songs of the Beatles are his songs. Then there are characters named ....... descent indian tribe which is a friend of Tom Tom. In its investigation Skinner always looking for info from Tom Tom. Tom Tom who finally confessed that the killers of Izzy is ........... when in fact the killer is Tom Tom. Because of his guilt then the Tom Tom makes a confession that was recorded and sent to the TV media. The film ends with Tom Tom melompatnya from top hotel. Before Tom Tom committed suicide are shown in chronological order the events which turned out to Izzy originally wanted to commit suicide, but was detained by Tom Tom. But when Tom Tom tried to hold him Izzy makes a confession that he had sex with El ....., which eventually Tom Tom releases his grip on Izzy.
In The Million Dollar Hotel, Wim Wenders include three elements of art that becomes a very good combination of sweet. Elements of art music that nicely added element of literary art with the dialogue of each actor that is poetic and photographic elements in several scenes. In addition, Wim Wenders shows idealist again in this film in the form of scenes of some figures that came out of the existing dimensions of life. So with the view of both the film directly, it can be concluded Wim Wenders indeed deserve the awards that have been achieved and also the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
